Back To School Tips

It’s that time of year again! Back to School! For some of us, there is excitement in the air and for others anxiety about going back.

Back to school can be tough for both parent and child. After having the summer off, routines have changed as have the bedtime schedules. Here are some tips for parents to help make the transition much easier and less stressful.

Going to school means getting into new routines with no more late nights or late mornings, so keep these tips in mind for tomorrow.

  • Set a bed time that is realistic for your children so they are well rested for the morning.
  • Make sure to allow time to have a well balanced breakfast to start the day out right.
  • Prepare what you can the night before with your child. Put the school clothing out, make a lunch and pack it away and prepare the backpack so there is less rushing around in the morning.

My children have already gone through this routine over and over and let me tell you, it doesn’t get easier until after the first week is under your belt. Allow yourself time to re adjust to the schedule. Also, I find that if you plan out what you will be making for dinner that week, it makes the first week a whole heck of a lot easier to handle.

Back to school doesn’t have to be so difficult if you just set out the guidelines that work for you and your family.  Make the transition easy for yourself and for your child.  It certainly will make for a better start for all.
