“The Hurt Locker” was the big winner for best picture. The low-budget Iraq war flick beat out nine other nominees including the box-office blockbuster “Avatar.” In total “The Hurt Locker” wom six Oscars including a win for Kathryn Bigelow who became the first woman ever to win for best director.
Best actress winner Sandra Bullock, who starred in the football drama “The Blind Side,” won her first Oscar.
